Everything in writing, before you apply
You should be able to read every document we will ask you to sign before you fill in a single form. Nothing here is a surprise later.
What the guarantee covers
Every puppy leaves with a written guarantee against life-threatening congenital and hereditary defects. In outline:
- First 72 hours. Take your puppy to your own veterinarian. If they find a significant health problem present at the time of sale, return the puppy and we refund you in full.
- First two years. Cover against life-threatening congenital or hereditary defects, confirmed by your veterinarian and reviewed by ours.
- Hips and eyes. Because these are the conditions the breed screens for, they are covered specifically, on the terms set out in the document.
What we ask in return
- Keep vaccinations, worming, and annual veterinary care current.
- Feed an appropriate diet and keep your dog at a healthy weight. Obesity voids joint coverage, because it causes the problem it would be claiming for.
- Do not breed a dog sold on limited registration.
- Spay or neuter on the agreed timing — we ask you to wait until growth plates close, which is better for joints and for some cancer risks.
The return clause
This one matters more to us than any of the rest. If at any point in your dog's life you cannot keep them — illness, divorce, a move, a change in circumstances, or simply because it is not working — the dog comes back to us. Not to a shelter, not to a rescue, and not resold privately.
There is no time limit on this and we will not make you feel bad about it. Call us.
A note on these documents
Read them properly and ask us about anything that is unclear before you sign. If you would like a lawyer to look them over first, that is entirely reasonable and we will wait.
